Abbeville man sought in shooting Sunday on St. Peter Street _lowres

Police are searching for an Abbeville man accused of shooting and critically injuring another man on Sunday afternoon on St. Peter Street.

A witness identified Nahshon Ishmael Brooks, 25, as the shooter, according to the Abbeville Police Department. He’s wanted on counts of attempted second-degree murder, felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm in a firearm-free zone.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still unclear, although investigators were able to interview the victim on Monday, police spokesman Lt. David Hardy said on Tuesday.

The victim is in critical but stable condition at an area hospital after suffering numerous gunshot wounds, Hardy said.
