A Rayne man on Tuesday slipped into a bayou while fishing and drowned, according to the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies found the body of Christopher Bouillion, 37, in the water near the intersection of White Oak Highway and Fleur de Lis Lane, where he frequently went fishing off a bridge there, the Sheriff’s Office said.
“Investigators believe that Bouillion got tangled in the line and fell into the water,” Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Maxine Trahan said.
Family members told deputies Bouillion left home to go fishing around 3 p.m. Tuesday and never returned, Trahan said. Deputies located his vehicle near the bridge Tuesday evening and found his body soon thereafter.
