A Rayne man died in a two-vehicle crash early Wednesday on La. 98 at Standard Mill Road in Lafayette Parish, officials said.

According to Louisiana State Police, 20-year-old Joseph LeBlanc, of Rayne, was traveling east on La. 98 around 12:30 a.m. when he crossed the center line and collided head-on with a westbound 2015 Dodge Ram truck driven by Arthur Bourque, 49, of Lafayette.

After impact, LeBlanc’s vehicle went off the roadway and became engulfed in flames, State Police said.

LeBlanc was pronounced dead at the scene. Due to the vehicle’s damage, it’s unknown if he was wearing a seat belt, State Police said.

Bourque was wearing a seat belt and suffered moderate injuries. He was transported to an area hospital.
