OPELOUSAS — Authorities obtained arrest warrants Tuesday for 14 St. Landry Parish residents suspected in a counterfeit check cashing ring, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Tens of thousands of dollars in counterfeit checks have been cashed at local businesses throughout the area, Sheriff Bobby Guidroz said Tuesday in a news release.
Guidroz said about 25 people are believed to be involved in the scheme.
Investigators have arrested 11 people for stealing more than $30,000 with “more checks coming in weekly,” Guidroz said.
The identities of the 11 people already in custody have not been released.

Rusty Jack: 2916 Veterans Memorial Highway, No. 13, Mamou.
Destiny Jenkins: 123 W. Peach St., Eunice.
Hailey Nicole Lowery: 821 Beulah St. #B8, Eunice.
Rashawn Collier Murray: 301 S. Aymond St., Eunice.
Marcus Anthony Scott: 821 Beulah St., Eunice.
Sparkle Core Lee Ethel Williams: 250 E. Vine St., Eunice.
