Lafayette Police arrested two people Wednesday evening after spotting them in a van identified as the getaway vehicle in an armed robbery outside an Ambassador Caffery Parkway shopping center.

Raymond Johnson, 30, and Anita M. Crosslin, 31, were located around 7:20 p.m. in a shopping center parking lot near the corner of Ambassador Caffery Parkway and Johnston Street, the Lafayette Police Department said in a Thursday news release.

When detectives searched the Lafayette hotel room where the two were staying, they recovered two firearms, police said.

Johnson and Crosslin are accused of approaching two women around 1:20 p.m. Tuesday in the parking lot of a shopping center at Ambassador Caffery Parkway and Kaliste Saloom Road and demanding they surrender their keys and wallets.

An image of the alleged getaway vehicle, a light blue Dodge Caravan, was captured in photographs and was the same vehicle police spotted when the two were arrested.

Johnson was booked on counts of armed robbery, attempted aggravated kidnapping and possession of marijuana and remained in the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center Thursday on a $150,000 bond. Crosslin was booked on a count of obstruction of justice and remained there on a $10,000 bond.
