Lafayette police seek public’s help in identifying car wash thief _lowres

Detectives with the Lafayette Police Department are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the man captured on surveillance video during a car wash burglary at 6:30 a.m. Friday.

The man is seen attaching a tow strap to a currency machine at the Express Car Wash, 3226 W. Pinhook Road, police spokesman Cpl. Paul L. Mouton said in a news release.

A white Ford Expedition was used to pull open the money machine and the thief stole an undisclosed amount of cash, Mouton said. Damage to the business is estimated at $20,000.
