An 18-year-old from Erath arrested Wednesday is accused of raking in thousands of dollars by selling stolen cattle.

Jodi M. Richard, of 404 Kibbe St., was booked on one theft count for collecting more than $13,700 by selling the stolen heifers, according to the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry Livestock Brand Commission.

Investigators were able to locate five of the cows in Louisiana, although the other two were shipped to other states, the commission announced in a news release. All of the heifers were marked on the right hip with the cattleman’s brand.

Richard remained in the Vermilion Parish jail on Wednesday evening in lieu of $25,000 bail.
