A 38-year-old New Iberia man is dead after a Tuesday morning wreck in the eastbound lanes of U.S. 90 frontage road, State Police reported.

Scott Ward’s 2014 Dodge “ran off the right side of the roadway, struck a tree and caught fire” in the wreck, which happened around 10 a.m. near State Route 83, State Police said in a news release.

Ward, who wore a seat belt, was pronounced dead on the scene. No other injuries or damage were reported. The cause of the wreck remains under investigation.
