ST. MARTINVILLE — The St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested a correctional officer Wednesday afternoon on allegations that he brought contraband into the jail, according to a news release.
Freddie J. Abraham III, 20, was arrested on counts of malfeasance in office, criminal conspiracy, attempted introduction of contraband in penal institution and possession with intent to distribute marijuana, the release said.
An investigation found that Abraham, who had been with the department since December 2010, was introducing illegal drugs into the St. Martin Parish Correctional II Facility at the Breaux Bridge Substation, the release said.
Abraham was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional. His bail is set at $30,000, the release said.
