NEW IBERIA — Deputies are investigating a Monday night altercation in which two people were stabbed in the chest.
A bystander had already brought one of the stabbing victims, a 30-year-old man, to a hospital when deputies arrived around 8:11 p.m. to investigate a large crowd blocking the roadway near Ann and School Streets, according to the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies then found among the crowd the second stabbing victim, whose age and gender have not been disclosed.
Both victims were treated at an area hospital, although their involvement in the altercation is unclear at this point, the Sheriff’s Office said.
