A 24-year-old Eunice woman was killed and two others injured Friday in a single-vehicle crash on US 190 near La. 758 in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana State Police reported.
Shinequia Anderson was driving a 2005 Ford Escape west on US 190 around 4:30 p.m. when, for unknown reasons, she drove off the right side of the roadway, traveled through a ditch and struck a culvert. The vehicle began to overturn, ejecting Anderson from the vehicle, Master Trooper Brooks David said in the news release.
Anderson, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead on scene by the St. Landry Parish Coroner’s Office, David said.
Front seat passenger, Keeya Shillow, 23, of Eunice and a juvenile seated in the rear of the vehicle, also were not wearing seat belts, but sustained moderate injuries, David said. Both Shillow and the juvenile were taken by helicopter ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.
It is not known if impairment is a factor in the crash. A toxicology sample was taken from Anderson and will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis, David said.
This crash remains under investigation.
