St. Martin Parish Sheriff's deputies are looking for two assailants in the Saturday night shooting injuries of two people in Breaux Bridge.

Deputies were alerted shortly after 9 p.m. about shots being fired in the 1200 block of Melvin Dupuis Road, sheriff's spokeswoman Maj. Ginny Higgins said in a news release Sunday.

Deputies located the residence where the shooting originated, however; no one was there at the time, she said.

Deputies were notified later that two people — A 29-year-old from Arnaudville and a 20-year-old from Breaux Bridge — had arrived at a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening gunshot wounds. Both men were treated for their injuries and released, Higgins said.

Investigators have confirmed there were at least two assailants involved, she said.

Anyone with information about the shooting or the identity of the shooters is asked to contact the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office at (337) 394-3071 or St. Martin Parish Crime Stoppers at (337) 441-3030.
