OPELOUSAS — Police are searching for a man in the shooting of another man earlier this month, a news release said.

Police said the shooting sent the victim to a hospital, according to the news release.

The suspect, Darrell Young, 918 Lemoine Dr., Opelousas, is a black male, 5 feet, 140 pounds.

He is considered armed and dangerous and is known to carry weapons, the release said.

Police schedule compliance checks

LAFAYETTE — The Lafayette Police Department will conduct a safety compliance checkpoint from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday, a news release said.

Officers will verify that motorists have a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and are properly seat belted in the vehicle.
