A Scott woman is accused of shooting a pellet gun at her child’s father during a domestic dispute that intensified because the man’s new girlfriend was present, according to the Scott Police Department.

Syrena Arcides, 35, was booked on counts of attempted second-degree murder, illegal use of a firearm and aggravated criminal damage to property in the shooting, which happened outside Arcides’ home in the 100 block of Gena Marie Drive, Police Chief Chad Leger said.

Arcides is accused of shooting several pellets at the man’s chest and face, also damaging a nearby vehicle, Leger said. The shooting victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and refused medical treatment.

Arcides remained in the Lafayette Parish jail on Tuesday morning. Bond had not been set.
