The St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office says it has arrested a third suspect in connection with two recent burglaries that were part of a string of burglaries over the last two weeks in St. Martin and Iberia Parish.

The Sheriff’s Office arrested Colby Francois, 20, of St. Martinville, after an initial investigation that led detectives to a residence in St. Martin Parish turned up a large amount of stolen property taken in the burglaries, the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested two people prior to Francois’ arrest that investigators believe were involved.

Francois was booked into the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office on four counts of simple burglary, theft of a firearm, cruelty to animals and criminal damage to property.

Francois’ bail is $362,500, the release says.

The investigation is ongoing, and further counts are pending, said Major Ginny Higgins, spokeswoman for the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office.
