The body of man who had been shot to death was discovered in a burning car early Friday on Belleau Street, Lafayette Police said in a news release.

Police responded around 1 a.m. to a report of a vehicle fire in the 200 block of Belleau Street, and found the victim inside. Police said they are investigating the incident as a homicide.
