Man booked in Acadia Parish slaying

MORSE — A Beauregard Parish man is accused of killing a person late Sunday near Morse after striking the person in the head with an object on Redbird Road, according to the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Ryan Tucker, 32, of Merryville, was booked into the Beauregard Parish jail on a count of second-degree murder and will be extradited to Acadia Parish this week, Sheriff K.P. Gibson said in a press release.

The identity of the victim has not been released, but Gibson said the person is also from Beauregard Parish and knew Tucker.

A witness told authorities Tucker struck the victim in the head with an object, put the victim in a vehicle and fled, Gibson said. The incident happened shortly before 11 p.m. Sunday.

The sheriff’s offices of Beauregard and Allen parishes later located the vehicle and found the victim dead inside, and authorities then located and arrested Tucker.
