A Lafayette man arrested this week is accused of creating the illusion he had a gun by keeping his left hand inside his hooded sweatshirt when he robbed three Lafayette businesses in January and February.
Scott L. Barnes, 50, was booked Wednesday on three counts of first-degree robbery and one count of forgery, according to a news release from the Lafayette Police Department.
Barnes is accused in the Jan. 16 robbery of a discount store on Bertrand Drive; the Jan. 18 robbery of hair salon on West Pinhook Road; and the Feb. 22 robbery of a dry cleaning business on Johnston Street.
In all three robberies, Scott fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, although he was not armed, police said.
Barnes is also accused of forging checks from a previous employer in January. He remained in the Lafayette Parish jail on Friday afternoon in lieu of $105,000 bail.
