MORGAN CITY — Detectives do not suspect foul play in the death of a woman whose body was found Tuesday on the La. 182 bridge that crosses the Atchafalaya River and connects Berwick and Morgan City, officials said.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Traci Landry said the body was identified and the woman’s family was notified.
Landry said that although the case remains open, detectives do not believe she was a victim of a homicide.
The body was discovered at around 4 a.m. Tuesday. The site investigation closed traffic on the bridge, which sits upriver from four-lane U.S. 90 bridge, for three hours.
