CROWLEY — Police said a man in his 30s or 40s attempted to abduct a 19-year-old woman from outside her home early Monday morning.
When the woman exited Interstate 10 on her way home from Lafayette about 2:50 a.m., she told police she noticed she was being followed by a mid-sized black truck with tinted windows, according to a news release.
As the woman drove to her home in the northeast area of Crowley, she lost sight of the truck, the release says.
While entering her home, a man approached her from behind and attempted to pull her away from the home, the release said. The woman fought back and screamed, prompting a family member to rush outside.
The attacker is described as a white man, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a bulky build and wavy hair. He was wearing dark-colored jeans and a dark-colored T-shirt, the release said. It is unknown if the suspect is from the Crowley area or was traveling the interstate.

Two arrested in invasion, robbery
OPELOUSAS — The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested two people in a May 1 home invasion and armed robbery that led to the theft of guns, jewelry and a safe containing $55,000 in antique coins and money.
The Sheriff’s Office said Allen C. Matt and Drakeeno R. Mitchell both have been arrested on counts of armed robbery, false imprisonment, home invasion, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and felony theft, according to a news release.
An arrest warrant also has been issued for Gerald J. Matt Jr. on the above counts.
The victim told authorities that the robbery occurred about 3 a.m. when three men wearing black ski masks and white gloves entered the home. Two of the men were armed, one with a handgun and the other with a rifle, the release said.
The victim said he was pulled from his bed and bound with duct tape around his hands and feet. The robbers also stole a truck, which was later discovered in Evangeline Parish, the release said.
