A 21-year-old man died after a shooting in downtown Lafayette early Sunday morning, police said.
Lafayette police responded to the shooting about 1:40 a.m. in the 200 block of Jefferson Street. A male victim, later identified as Donald Randall Jr., had been shot and was transported to an area hospital by others at the scene, Lafayette police said in a news release.
Randall was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Sam Brown III, 26, of Lafayette, has been identified as a suspect in the fatal shooting, Lafayette police said.
A warrant has been issued for Brown for second-degree murder.
