Two Comeaux High School students were arrested Thursday morning after allegedly posting sticky notes that warned there was a bomb on campus, KATC-TV reported.

School administrators and the campus resource officer identified the students through video surveillance and pulled them from class, Cpl. Paul Mouton said. They were identified within 15 minutes of someone noticing about 9 a.m. the notes in the school’s hallways.

School administrators did not place the school on lockdown, and parents were told of the hoax through a notification system, Mouton said.

The 17-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl were each issued a misdemeanor summons for criminal mischief, Mouton said.

The girl was taken to the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Assessment Center, where she was released to her parents, Mouton said. The boy also was removed from campus.

Man shot during attempted robbery

Police are investigating an overnight shooting in which a 31-year-old man said he was shot Thursday morning during an attempted robbery on Happiness Street.

The victim, who remains in stable condition at a hospital, told police he was at a home in the 200 block of Happiness Street around 12:30 a.m. when a man approached and demanded everything in his pockets, police spokesman Cpl. Paul Mouton said. The man then shot the victim in both legs and once in the back, then fled the scene.

Mouton said there’s no indication the shooting is related to a Wednesday shooting on Castille Avenue, in which 17-year-old Austin Hack is accused of shooting someone twice in the back.

The victim in that shooting remains in the hospital.
