State Police reported on Tuesday the recovery of pounds of weed, thousands of ecstasy tablets and anti-anxiety pills and several pints of narcotic cough syrup in two weekend busts on Interstate 10.
Troopers arrested two Texas men during a 5:30 a.m. Sunday traffic stop on I-10 in Lafayette Parish after searching their 2007 Mercedes and finding 1,350 MDMA pills, 1,000 Xanax pills and four pints of Promethazine cough syrup, Troop I spokesman Brooks David said.
Tyler Hobbs, 23, of Houston, and his passenger, Marques Jones, 23, of Humble, Texas, were both booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.
Around 6 a.m. Saturday, troopers arrested another Houston man, 37-year-old Alax Trigo, who was stopped for a traffic violation on I-10 near Duson in his 2009 Mitsubishi Galant. Troopers found about 124 pounds of marijuana in the vehicle, David said.
Trigo was booked into the Acadia Parish jail on a count of improper lane usage, no driver’s license and possession with intent to distribute marijuana. He remained in jail Tuesday afternoon in lieu of a $500,000 bail.
Hobbs, who was booked on counts of possession with intent to distribute a Schedule I substance, sale/distribution/possession of a legend drug and illegally producing/manufacturing/distributing prescription drugs without a prescription, posted a $60,000 bail and was released from jail by Tuesday afternoon, according to booking records.
Jones, who was booked on counts of illegally producing/manufacturing/distributing prescription drugs without a prescription, sale/distribution/possession of a legend drug and prohibited acts with Schedule IV narcotics, remained in jail Tuesday afternoon in lieu of a $165,000 bail.
