Police identify third suspect in shooting of Lafayette teen Sunday _lowres

Police on Friday named a third suspect in a shooting last Sunday in Lafayette that wounded a 17-year-old.

Hunter Lawrence, 17, of Lafayette, is wanted on a count of attempted second-degree murder in the afternoon shooting near Acadiana Park in the 1200 block of Alexander Street, according to a news release from the Lafayette Police Department.

Lawrence should be considered armed and dangerous, the release stated.

Another Lafayette 17-year-old, Kearick Joe, and a 16-year-old whose name has not been released, were arrested on Wednesday in the shooting and were booked on counts of attempted second-degree murder.

The victim, who was shot once in the side, was treated at an area hospital. Witnesses transported the victim from the site of the shooting to a location about two-and-a-half miles away on Frank Street, police said. Investigators processed both scenes.

The investigation remains ongoing.
