A New Iberia man arrested early Tuesday is accused of robbing a convenience store at gunpoint, and authorities say he may be responsible for other unsolved armed robberies in Iberia Parish.

Tyrone Jackson, 32, was booked on a count of armed robbery after deputies located him near the 1400 block of Fulton Street, the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Jackson matched the description of an armed robber who targeted the Penny-Wise store on Jane Street, the Sheriff’s Office said. He’s accused of demanding money from the store clerk around 6 a.m. Tuesday before running away.

Jackson remained in the Iberia Parish jail Tuesday afternoon.
