Broussard Police arrested two Lafayette men and seized more than half a pound of synthetic marijuana during a traffic stop Wednesday, authorities said.

Emmanuel Hebert, 23, was found with 280 grams of the substance and $233 in cash, and 34-year-old Christopher Savoy had 48 grams in his possession, Police Chief Brannon Decou said.

The two were passengers in a vehicle traveling on Sweetland Drive when an officer flagged them down for a traffic violation, Decou said. Officers got written consent to search the vehicle after one of the two passengers tried to flee, according to Decou.

Hebert was booked on possession with intent to distribute Schedule I narcotics, having money from derived from drug proceeds and a warrant for failing to appear in court, Decou said, and Savoy was booked for second-offense possession of schedule I narcotics.
