MORGAN CITY — A Morgan City man was booked Tuesday in the October killing of a man whose body was found in a Berwick ditch, officials said.
Tyler Francis, 18, was the fifth suspect arrested in the homicide of Willie Francis, who was found in a roadside ditch Oct. 30, St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Jimmie Broussard said in news release.
Broussard did not say if the suspect and victim were related.
Francis was booked into the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center — the parish jail — on one count of first-degree murder and possession of marijuana. He is being held without bond.
The suspect joins four others, including a juvenile female, who have been implicated in Francis’ death. Francis was arrested at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday without a struggle, Broussard said.
A sheriff’s deputy discovered Willie Francis’ vehicle, which was running but unoccupied vehicle on U.S. 90 in Bayou Vista at 11:30 p.m. Oct. 29. Eleven hours later Willie Francis’ body was discovered in Berwick on the side of La. 182.
Broussard said the investigation continues.
