LAFAYETTE — St. Landry Parish authorities have arrested a man accused of forcing his way into a home near Sunset at 5 a.m. Sunday, kidnapped a woman and made her drive him to Carencro before she escaped, officials said.
Troydell J. Simmons, 25, of Carencro, was booked into the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office jail one count each of home invasion, second-degree kidnapping and improper telephone communication, Sheriff’s Capt. Megan Vizena said.
“The victim told deputies that she was awakened by the suspect knocking on her door,” Vizena said in an emailed news release.
“The suspect forced his way into her home, forcing her to drive him to another location,” Vizena said. “Fearing for her safety, she complied.”
The victim, who was not identified by Vizena, was able to break free after driving Simmons to Carencro.
