A grand jury on Wednesday indicted a Morgan City man on a count of first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old Lafayette man.

Quentin Cooper, 25, is accused of killing Dravin Stevenson and of attempted first-degree murder of another 19-year-old man in the shooting, according to the indictment.

Police arrested Cooper the morning after the July 27 shooting inside a home on Sunnyside Lane, where witnesses said two men entered the house and began firing weapons, police have said.

Another Morgan City man wanted in the shooting, 37-year-old Lawrence Blackburn, died the next day from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head after a shootout in Baton Rouge with U.S. Marshals.
