CROWLEY — Crowley man killed in a Sunday shooting on West Seventh Street has been identified as 22-year-old Taylor Beverly, and police say they’re working “several leads” that point toward a single gunman.

Police believe the shooter approached Beverly on foot around 5 p.m. Sunday and shot him several times before fleeing in a vehicle, according to Crowley Police Chief K.P. Gibson.

The suspect is described as a medium-built black man who appears to be in his 20s, Gibson said.

Beverly died at Acadia General Hospital last night.

Gibson said too many senseless shootings have occurred in the area over the last few years.

“I ask that our citizens get involved and report what they know,” Gibson said in a news release.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting may call the Crowley Police Department at 337-783-1234 or the Crime Stoppers of Acadia Parish’s anonymous tip line at 337-789-8477.
