A Lafayette man wanted in the June death of Cory Nicholas Sonnier has been arrested in Georgia, authorities said Friday.
Patrick Paul George, 39, was arrested Thursday night in Valdosta, Ga., by the U.S. Marshals Service on a warrant for obstruction of justice, according to a St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office news release.
Authorities are still searching for 19-year-old David James Anderson Jr., who has been with George and is believed to be in Georgia.
Anderson is considered a person of interest, authorities have said.
Sonnier’s body was discovered June 24 in Lake Martin.
Anyone with information as to Anderson’s whereabouts is asked to call (337) 394-3071.
Arrangements to extradite George to Louisiana are under way, the Sheriff’s Office said.
