Police say evidence of car thefts — including a purse — started falling out of Jeffrey Furr’s stuffed jacket early Monday when he stood to talk to investigators.

The Scott Police Department said in a news release that 35-year-old Furr, wearing dark pants and a camouflage jacket, rode his bicycle to Harvest Pointe Circle a little after 2 a.m. and broke into three vehicles before setting off the alarm in one of them.

Furr, of Lafayette, is accused of stealing multiple items, including two purses, some checkbooks and bank cards, along with $36 in cash — “some of which, including a purse, fell out when he was stood upright,” the release stated.

Police said Furr admitted to breaking into the vehicles in the 100 and 200 blocks of Harvest Pointe Circle.
