Lafayette police identify suspect in Marigold Loop shooting Monday night _lowres

An arrest warrant has been issued for Kervin Gallien Jr., 33, for attempted second-degree murder in connection with the shooting of a 42-year-old man on Marigold Loop Monday, Lafayette police said.

The man injured in the 400 block of Marigold Loop Monday was shot, not stabbed, Lafayette police said Tuesday.

The victim remains in critical condition Tuesday morning from a gunshot wound to the chest, Cpl. Paul Mouton said in a news release.

Detectives are working to identify the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call Lafayette police or Crime Stoppers at (337) 232-TIPS.

Lafayette police are seeking the assailant who attacked a male victim around 7 p.m. Monday in the 400 block of Marigold Loop.

Police were called to the area regarding a disturbance, and when they arrived, they located a male victim lying in the street with what appeared to be a puncture wound to the chest, Cpl. Paul Mouton said in a police department news release.

The victim was transported to an area hospital in serious condition, Mouton said.

Witnesses told officers a black vehicle was seen leaving the area minutes after the incident occurred.

Detectives are encouraging anyone with information about the incident or the identity of the assailant to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at (337) 232-TIPS.
