Police have released surveillance images of two unidentified men sought in a shooting death Monday at a Lafayette apartment complex.
Christopher J. Isaac, 51, died at a hospital after someone shot him once at his apartment in the 200 block of Duval Street, according to the Lafayette Police Department.
Police said the shooter — believed to be one of the two men pictured in the surveillance images — knocked on Isaac’s door shortly before 2:25 a.m., Isaac opened it and the two were arguing when the shooter fired the single, fatal shot. The shooter ran from the scene, police said.
Isaac’s death marks the eighth homicide in Lafayette since May, and only three accused shooters have been identified in those deaths.
Police on July 29 arrested Felix Parry Pierre, 23, on a count of second-degree murder in the shooting death that day of 19-year-old Deontra Alexander on 12th Street.
And that night, Lawrence Lynel Blackburn, 37, of Morgan City, shot himself during a Baton Rouge shootout with U.S. Marshals, authorities have said. Blackburn was wanted for first-degree murder in the July 23 shooting death of 18-year-old Dravin Stevenson at a home in the 300 block of Sunnyside Lane in Lafayette.
Anthony Beloney, 18, was booked on a count of manslaughter on May 9 when he shot and killed his friend, 18-year-old Jo’Nathan Delacroix, while the two were handling a gun at his home in the 1600 block of 12th Street. Police ruled it accidental.
Killers remain at large in the shooting deaths of Amon Bob, 30, on Simcoe Street on July 17; Damien Champ, 21, on Bossier Street on June 30; Scottie Alfred, 51, on East Foch Street on May 24; and Aaron Brooks Jr., 32, on Northeast Evangeline Thruway on May 8.
