A Lafayette man accused in the Jan. 10 shooting death of an Opelousas man was charged Wednesday with a count of second-degree murder.

A parish grand jury handed down the indictment against Moses Derrick Arceneaux, 29, of 112 Latin Drive, who is accused of fatally shooting 32-year-old Marcus Aggison.

Aggison died at a hospital after the shooting near Arceneaux’s home. Authorities said the two were involved in some kind of argument prior to the incident that happened shortly after midnight, the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office said at the time.

Arceneaux has remained in the Lafayette Parish jail since his Jan. 11 arrest in lieu of $250,000 bail.
