A woman struck by a vehicle while crossing Louisiana Avenue next to J.W. Faulk Elementary School Thursday morning was in stable condition at an area hospital.
The driver of a white, four-door car was turning left onto Louisiana Avenue from a stop sign on Jupiter Drive when the driver struck the pedestrian, Lafayette Police said.
Although she was transported to a hospital in critical condition, she’s improved since the morning and “we expect for her to recover,” Lafayette Police spokesman Cpl. Paul Mouton said.
The woman was struck by the car aound 7:10 a.m. next to J.W. Faulk Elementary and a block away from the nearest crosswalk at Louisiana Avenue and Willow Street.
The driver was not cited.
