A 22-year-old man was killed early Sunday in Lafayette Parish after he was thrown from his vehicle when it ran off the road, hit a ditch and overturned, said Louisiana State Police spokesman Master Trooper Brooks David.
Cody Morgan, of Baldwin, was driving southbound on LA 339 near Chemin Agreable Road in Youngsville about 1:30 a.m. when he failed to negotiate a left curve and his car slid sideways, Brooks said. The 2006 Saturn Ion fell off the roadway, hit the ditch, and overturned.
Morgan, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Brooks said.
Police are still investigating why Morgan's vehicle traveled off the road and if impairment was a factor in the crash, Brooks said.
