Authorities on Monday identified a Houma woman whose alleged comment about leaving a bomb on a casino boat led to its evacuation.

Sherry Whitaker, 41, was arrested Friday on a count of terrorizing after someone overheard her make the comment at the Amelia Belle Casino and reported it to authorities, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies launched an investigation around noon Friday and evacuated the boat to search for hazards before the vessel was cleared and patrons were allowed to return, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Whitaker had bonded out of the St. Mary Parish jail by Monday afternoon, according to online booking records.
