A candidate for Crowley police chief has been jailed for 90 days over not paying more than $11,000 in child support, according to KATC TV.

The Acadia Parish Clerk of Court’s Office said Bendell Hunter was ordered to serve 90 days in jail with no credit for time served and no credit for good behavior.

The judge ruled that Hunter will be released from jail before 90 days if he pays the $11,525 he owes in child support, according to the clerk’s office.

Hunter is one of three candidates vying for chief of police in Crowley. He’s running against Madeline Robinson Cronin and incumbent Police Chief K.P. Gibson.
