LAFAYETTE — Police said a 19-year-old man shot a 25-year-old Lafayette man in the face during a Friday robbery attempt.
Dontevious Thomas was arrested on counts of armed robbery, aggravated battery, resisting an officer, theft and possession of marijuana, according to a news release.
The victim was taken to a local hospital and is in stable condition, police said.
The shooting occurred about 2:30 a.m. in the 100 block of Glouchester Drive, police said.
The victim told police that he had given Thomas a ride back to his vehicle on Glouchester Drive. When they arrived, Thomas pulled a gun and attempted to rob the victim, police said.
The gun went off and struck the victim in the face during a struggle, police said.
Thomas fled in his own vehicle and was located shortly afterward on South College Road, police said. He was arrested following a short pursuit.
Police name victim in fatal shooting
LAFAYETTE — The Police Department on Friday identified the victim of a Thursday morning shooting as Joshua D. Augustine, 32.
Meanwhile, police continue to search for Maurice Goodman, 24, of San Antonio. Goodman is wanted on one count each of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.
Police has said Goodman allegedly shot two men, killing one and wounding the other, during an argument in the 600 block of Magnolia Street.
Goodman was last seen fleeing the scene in a mid-1990s silver or gold Buick Roadmaster with a Texas license plate, police said.
