State troopers on Thursday found 36 pounds of cocaine and a gun inside a vehicle stopped on a traffic violation on Interstate 10 in St. Martin Parish, according to a news release from State Police.

Troopers stopped 33-year-old Jaycie Thomas, of Forest, for a traffic violation in the eastbound lane of I-10 and found the contraband while taking an inventory of his vehicle during the towing process, State Police said.

Thomas was booked into the St. Martin Parish jail on counts of possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, driving under suspension and failure to obey traffic signs.
