A 13-year-old Crowley girl died in a car wreck that injured the juvenile girl driver at 4 p.m. Friday on La. 92 at Muskrat Road in Acadia Parish, according to Louisiana State Police.

Their 2007 Toyota Camry was southbound on Muskrat Road when the driver stopped for a stop sign at the intersection with La. 92. When she proceeded to enter the highway, the car was struck on the driver’s side door by a westbound 2005 Dodge Ram driven by Chad Breaux, 39, of Morse, Master Trooper Brooks David said in a news release.

The juvenile driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, sustained critical injuries and was transferred to a local hospital, David said. Her passenger, Halle Thompson, was wearing a seat belt, but was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of her injuries, the trooper said. Breaux, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries, David said.

Impairment is not suspected to be a contributing factor in the crash, he said. Breaux voluntarily submitted to a chemical breath test and troopers determined he was not impaired, David said.

This crash remains under investigation, and charges are pending.
