CARENCRO — The Lafayette Fire Department continues to investigate the death of a 20-year-old employee at Thunder Ridge Farms, an official said Monday.

The victim was identified as Carlos Gonzales, the release said.

The manager of the farm, Sharon Brasseaux, arrived at the farm at 224 Printemps Road early Saturday morning and found Gonzales unresponsive inside the living quarters, which were filled with smoke, the release said.

Investigators determined that a fire occurred in the living quarters, resulting in moderate fire and smoke damage. The fire extinguished itself because of a lack of oxygen in the room, the release said.

The cause of the fire and the man’s death remain under investigation, the release said.
