A Youngsville homeowner shot and injured one of three men who forced their way into the person’s home early Tuesday and fired weapons, according to the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators located at an area hospital three men suspected in the burglary and shooting in the 300 block of Austin Road, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.

Jace Breaux, 22, 117 Beringer Drive in Duson; Chaz Louviere, 23, 110 Mulligans Way in Carencro; and Jacob Collett, 33, 655 Marie Antoinette St. Apt. 472 in Lafayette, were each booked into the Lafayette Parish jail on a count of aggravated burglary in the incident, the release states.

Investigators by Tuesday afternoon had upgraded the counts to attempted second-degree murder, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators said the three men forced their way into the home around 4:25 a.m. while the homeowner was sleeping and fired several shots before the homeowner returned fire and struck one of the men, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday declined to release which of the three men had been shot, citing the ongoing investigation.
