EUNICE — A 32-year-old Eunice man died Wednesday following a two-vehicle crash involving an SUV and a motorcycle on U.S. 190 at La. 367, State Police said in a news release.
State Police said 68-year-old Burley Soileau, of Eunice, failed to stop at a stop sign and drove close to Cormier, causing Cormier to strike the side of Soileau’s vehicle.
Cormier was thrown from his motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the scene, State Police said.
Soileau was not injured in the crash, State Police said.
The crash remains under investigation, State Police said.
Mother arrested in desertion of child
CROWLEY — Crowley Police arrested a 30-year-old Crowley woman accused of leaving her 2-year-old child at the Rice Festival for hours without proper supervision, according to a news release.
Tiffany Comeaux was arrested on one count of child desertion, Crowley Police said.
The child has been taken into protective custody pending the investigation, police said.
Cash, drugs stolen in pharmacy burglary
PARKS — The St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating the burglary of Mills Cashway Pharmacy, according to a news release.
Employees discovered the break-in when they arrived at work Thursday morning, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Various controlled drugs and an undisclosed amount of money were stolen from the pharmacy, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Sheriff touts new voice-stress machine
OPELOUSAS — The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office used a federal grant to buy a computer voice stress analyzer, or truth verification system, according to a news release.
The Sheriff’s Office is offering the services of one of his detectives and use of the analyzer to other law enforcement agencies, according to the release.
“This machine is a great help in solving crimes,” Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz said in a news release. “We want to share this great tool with other agencies also. Criminals do not recognize parish lines or city boundaries. We want this technology to help arrest criminals regardless of parish lines or city boundaries.”

Man dies after truck leaves road, hits pole
ELTON — An Elton man died when his northbound pickup ran off La. 395, flipped and hit a utility pole before coming to rest in an open field.
State Police said Keagan Regan, 21, was ejected from the vehicle Wednesday and pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers said a passenger in the vehicle suffered minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.
