Opelousas man killed in early morning shooting; suspect arrested in slaying _lowres

Photo provided by OPELOUSAS POLICE DEPARTMENT -- Police on March 29, 2016, arrested 20-year-old De'Angelo Rubin, of Opelousas, on a count of second-degree murder in the early morning shooting death of Kenric Jerome Castille, 44, of Opelousas, according to the Opelousas Police Department.

The fatal shooting of a 44-year-old Opelousas man on Common Street early Tuesday led to the arrest later that morning of De’Angelo Rubin, 20, according to the Opelousas Police Department.

Police reported arresting Rubin, also of Opelousas, about 9 a.m., just hours after the 3 a.m. slaying of Kenric Jerome Castille. The victim had been shot multiple times and died on the scene, said Corey Leger, Opelousas Police Department spokesperson.

Rubin was taken into custody without incident on a count of second-degree murder, Leger said.

The investigation is ongoing.
