Store captures video of armed robber
LAFAYETTE — Police are trying to identify a man caught on surveillance tape robbing a convenience store Wednesday night.
The robbery occurred at 11:15 p.m. at the On the Run store in the 1300 block of Southeast Evangeline Thruway, according to a news release.
The clerk told officers that the armed robber entered the store and demanded money and cigarettes, the release said.
The robber, described as a white man, 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing 160 pounds, was wearing a black hat, white gloves and a bandana over his face, the release said.
He was last seen running toward Chaig Street, the release said.

Troopers to check drivers in St. Mary
ST. MARY PARISH — State Police will conduct a sobriety checkpoint on Friday in St. Mary Parish, according to a news release.
The checkpoint will take place from 9 p.m. until 3 a.m., the release said.
Troopers will be looking for impaired drivers as well as aggressive drivers and unrestrained occupants, the release said.
