State troopers on Monday booked a Pineville man authorities had been seeking for two weeks as a suspect in a fatal hit-and-run crash in Bayou Vista.

The Monroe Police Department had located and detained Mark Joseph Montie Jr., 31, who is accused of fleeing an Aug. 11 fatal crash that killed 32-year-old motorcyclist Jerome Rudolph Jr. of Patterson, State Police said in a news release.

Montie is accused of driving a GMC pickup truck into Rudolph’s path on US 90, then fleeing on foot when Rudolph crashed into the truck and died on the scene, State Police said.

Troopers transported Montie from Monroe and booked him into the St. Mary Parish jail on multiple counts, including hit-and-run driving; resisting arrest by flight; interfering with the official duties of a state trooper; failure to report a crash; unauthorized use of a moveable; and possession of methamphetamine.

Montie also faces counts of driving with illegal window tint and a suspended license and without insurance, headlights or a license plate.
