Authorities Monday morning arrested a former part-time Rayne police officer who’s accused of sex crimes against a minor, the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office said.
Troy Bryan Menard, 46, of the 400 block of Richard Drive in Rayne, is accused of two counts of sexual battery on a minor, one count of lewd or lascivious acts on a minor, and one count of aggravated crime against nature, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Investigators secured the warrant for Menard on Aug. 7 but found he was undergoing treatment in a Lafayette intensive-care unit until Monday, Sheriff’s spokeswoman Maxine Trahan said. Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s deputies made the arrest. Menard is expected to be taken to Acadia Parish on Monday afternoon.
Rayne Police Chief Carroll Stelly on Aug. 4 requested the Sheriff’s Office investigate a complaint made to his office about Menard in the alleged crimes, Trahan said.
Stelly had fired Menard a day earlier.
