LAFAYETTE — A 26-year-old Eunice man has been arrested in the Sunday night armed robbery of a pharmacy/convenience store on Johnston Street, according to a news release from the Lafayette Police Department.
Gary Montez Mitchell Jr. has been booked on five counts of armed robbery and a count of flight from an officer, Lafayette Police spokesman Cpl. Karl Ratcliff said in the release.
Police were called to the store in the 6100 block of Johnston Street about 9:30 p.m. Sunday while the armed robbery was in progress, Ratcliff said.
A man with a handgun entered the store and demanded money from an employee as well as customers inside of the business, Ratcliff said. After fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect was immediately pursued and apprehended by Lafayette Police and sheriff’s deputies. No one was hurt during the robbery and there are no additional suspects being sought at this time, Ratcliff said.
